Hi there. We recently moved our site over to thedrugspot.com. All our information on 2cb is now found there.

2CB may not enjoy the popularity or notoriety of other well-known party drugs like ecstasy. But it has gone a long way since Alexander Shulgin first synthesized the drug back in 1974.

This article was written to serve as a complete guide for those who are looking for more information about this drug.

What is 2cb?

This drug belongs to the 2C family which comprises of phenethylamines that are known for having psychedelic effects. It’s also known as 4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine.

Alexander Shulgin or “Sasha” is credited for synthesizing the 2C family, including the 2cb. Sasha is an American pharmacologist who is also a well-respected chemist. In addition to creating the 2C family, he’s also widely-credited for increasing the popularity of ecstasy as a form of treatment for depression. That’s not all. Sasha is also credited for more than 230 psychoactive compounds.

Sasha did not make 2cb from scratch. He actually synthesized it from 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde back in 1974. This is why it’s also known as 4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine. It was quickly taken advantage of those in the psychiatry field as an effective therapy tool. Most psychiatric experts back then recognized the drug as one of the best when it comes to providing theraphy.

Drug users quickly took notice and started taking it for recreational activities. In the medical field, it was popular for not causing any side effects when taken correctly. While it was used in the medical field as a therapy tool, it was taken recreationally as “Eros” – an aphrodisiac. Consumers didn’t need to buy them from the black market as it was made available by Drittewelle – a pharmaceutical firm from Germany. It was then sold in smart shops or shops that sell psychoactive substances with the name of “Nexus” before being placed on the banned list.

What Effects Does 2cb Have?

It became popular in the medical community for its lack of side effects. When taken in mild doses, or anything between 5 – 10 mg, there’s a good chance that you’ll escape with nothing more than a trip.

The problem starts if you take more than the standard dosage. You can get a bad trip that includes hallucinations that can lead to confusion. This is because of the changing intensity of these hallucinations. Diarrhea is also very common together with being easily irritated. There’s also the possibility of open eye visuals. The experience can be described as like watching cartoons.

Problems may also arise if you take it and you’re suffering from depression or psychosis. This is especially true if you’re taking medications for them. Panic and psychotic attacks may happen. On that note, taking it with other drugs is not recommended. Although users have long been taking it at the height of an ecstasy trip to prolong the trip.

A user named Zara reported an allergic reaction to the drug. Zara reported that the allergic reaction started at around the 6th time that she used it. The allergic reaction caused to cough through her trips.

The effects also depend on how it was taken. When snorted, there are more possible side effects like body tremors and muscle spasms. These effects usually happen a few hours after taking the drug.

Overall, it’s deemed relatively safer than ecstasy. In addition, users are generally in control since addiction is very rare. However, it’s important to note that there are no established longterm side effects of the drug.

Who Makes 2cb?

Pharmaceutical companies like Drittewelle made it in the past. Nowadays, chemical companies all over the world make it. Here are just some of the companies that manufacture it:

Global Research Chemical Co. (Kazakhstan)

Obviously, supplies and equipment are readily-available since they’re manufactured from all over the world. But it would help a lot if you’re a chemist or if at least you’re familiar with how chemicals work.

There’s a good chance that you cannot trace these laboratories. A manufacturer basically makes homemade 2cb in an unspecified location. In the past, there were established laboratories especially in Arizona and California. But agents from the DEA closed them down back in 1995. But in the past years, these laboratories are making a comeback and they’re now more cautious. Sarah Buynovsky, a reporter for News 10 Now, reported in 2004 that these laboratories are being set up in Central New York. She also said that it “is often homemade in labs and [is] difficult to track down.” Source: http://www.enotes.com/drugs-substances-encyclopedia/2c-b-nexus/usage-trends
